IT MANAGER II

The principal duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversees the selection and training of qualified IT personnel to ensure an efficient unit.
  • Oversees budgeting, reporting, planning, and auditing.
  • Directs technological operations by studying organizational practices and goals.
  • Monitors an organization’s servers, networks, and computer systems for irregularities and performance issues.
  • Ensures compliance with all internal organization standards as a step towards sustained quality of service.
  • Communicates all operating policies and/or issues at department meetings.
  • Assesses system data and error logs, along with user reports, to determine areas for improvement or repair.
  • Entails providing print management solutions, as well as ensuring proper maintenance of printing facilities.
  • Directs the activities of IT technicians, both to directly support end-users and to assist with IT department upgrades and directives.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Applicants must have a minimum of the following:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines. OR A Master’s Degree in Management Information Systems or Business Administration.
  • Proven work experience (5-10 years) as an IT Operations Manager Accepted certification in OS management, networking, systems security, or a related IT discipline, e.g. MCSA/MCSE, CCNP, CISM, ITIL (at least 2 areas).
  • Proven knowledge in IBM iSeries configuration and support.
  • Extensive knowledge of communications systems and networks, including routing and switching equipment and software.
  • Extensive hands-on experience within an organization’s IT department working as technicians or analysts, along with management experience.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in installing, configuring, and maintaining IT systems and equipment.
  • Extensive hands-on experience within an organization’s IT department working as a senior technician or analyst, along with management experience.
  • Must have extensive training in computer software and hardware, including database management, servers, and systems, to successfully lead the operations of the IT department.
  • Should be able to effectively manage IT personnel and set the unit’s priorities.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication, able to communicate with team members, management personnel, and end users throughout the organization.
