At 4 p.m. today, the tender closed for Lots 3 and 4 of the CDB sponsored water supply improvement project in Long Island. The same applies for the scope of works for Crooked Island.  Both projects were simultaneously tendered. This is all part of the government’s strategy to improve our country’s infrastructure and, in this case, to provide potable water supply to the southern/southeastern islands of the Bahamas. This is the first time that such a comprehensive plan has been rolled out and executed and is part of a larger strategy to provide water throughout the entire Bahamas. This comes on the heels of our recent visit to several of the southern islands, which included Ragged Island, Crooked Island and Acklins. The Corporation has also undertaken work in North and South Andros, North, Central and South Eleuthera, San Salvador, North and Central/South Abaco and Inagua.  We are currently carrying out NRW work in Long Island, and are in the process of procuring and/or constructing new RO Plants for North Eleuthera, Acklins, Crooked Island, Cat Island, and South Andros. WSC will leave no stone unturned to improve both its coverage and operating efficiency, including the introduction of renewable energy at our production plants/offices to reduce electricity costs. We have advanced plans to purchase an asphalt recycler and other machinery to improve the quality and timeliness of our road reinstatement efforts. Adrian Gibson, MPExecutive Chairman
