Two Brothers of Oakes field Primary School Demonstrate Honesty!
Nassau, Bahamas – The Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) lost a device which was returned to the Corporation by two brothers, both students of Oakes Field Primary School recently. Brothers Nathan Carey age 6 and Yaqiym Rahming age 10 with the assistance of their mother Shaquila Carey traced the device to the Corporation via the manufacturer. Proving that honesty is still the best policy, Water and Sewerage Management decided to reward the boys for their act of integrity. At a ceremony held at WSC Headquarters the family was rewarded for their honesty. Nathan and Yaqiym were given a plague and gifts, and the family’s account was credited with an undisclosed amount.
“It is always good when we can recognize the honesty of our young people and in this case the device is extremely valuable to the Corporation and we appreciate the efforts made by the family to return the item” said General Manager Glen Laville. “We are happy to have the unit back at the corporation and are elated to recognize a family in the community who is doing good.” The Water and Sewerage Corporation was established through an Act in 1976 with full responsibilities for managing, maintaining, distributing and developing the water resources of The Bahamas. The Corporation has a team of over 400 dedicated employees in New Providence and the family islands committed to the growth and excellence in service quality, which is the key driving force that guides and sustains the relationships with customers, employees, and communities served by the Corporation.Through a loan with the IDB in 2011 the Water and Sewerage Corporation has developed the WSC Support Program to address Non-Revenue Reduction, WSC Institutional Strengthening, Rehabilitation and Upgrade of Wastewater Infrastructure and Preparation of a Wastewater Treatment Master Plan and an upgrade of the Legal and Regulatory Framework. The Support Program will ultimately improve the quality and service to the customers.
