NEW PROVIDENCE, BAHAMAS:   The Corporation wishes to update our valued customers and the residents of Mangrove Cay, Andros regarding our plans for water mains renewals and extensions for their community in the coming months.

The Hon. Alfred Sears, KC, MP, Minister of Works and Utilities has given the Governmental approval for the Corporation to urgently proceed to address the critical water supply challenges in Mangrove Cay, Andros.

The Corporation has substantially completed the Tender Drawings for the replacement of all of the existing grey PVC 4-inch mains that are the source of frequent water leaks which result in low pressure and/or no water supply situations.  The Drawings also include extending new water mains to parts of the community without a piped water supply at this time.  A Corporation technical team will visit Mangrove Cay early this week to complete a final survey to ensure the scope of works capture all homes and businesses and thereafter, the Tender Documents will be finalized and we hope to commence the tender process during December 2022. 

Once we have completed the tendering process and a Contract Award is made, a Community Meeting will be scheduled to update our valued customers and all residents of the community as to the specific timelines for the project.

In the interim, the Corporation’s team in Mangrove Cay will continue their best efforts to promptly repair all leaks and to continue own pressure management efforts to prevent any new leaks.  Residents are asked to promptly report any leaks they may observe, no matter how small. The Corporation apologies to our valued customers in Mangrove Cay for any and all inconveniences experienced and we appreciate and thank them for their loyalty and patience.
