In a spirit of co-operation, togetherness and goodwill, the Water and Sewerage Corporation's top management, its union and staff joined hands and resources recently to brighten their headquarters at #87 Thompson Boulevard.
The initiative, dubbed 'Operation Home Improvement' started Oct. 2 and continues each Saturday until the work is completed.
It involves all levels of the Corporation's staff with varying skills who volunteer their time. They carry out painting, carpentry, masonry, gardening, and electrical work throughout the building.
In addition to improving the building's appearance, the project also seeks to encourage camaraderie and form stronger bonds among top management, union and staff.
"The project does not stop with the main building," noted the Corporation's head of public relations Visna Armbrister. "These motivated, excited and talented employees will take their campaign to other Water and Sewerage Corporation buildings.
"They are proud that they are saving their financially challenged corporation money by becoming 'do-it-yourselfers'.
"The Corporation is promoting a new corporate culture, where management and staff now understand that they have a vested interest in the success of their company and where it is clear that a company is only as good as its human resources."
